40′ Insulated Container ā Secure, Dry & Reliable Year-Round Storage
The 40′ Insulated Container is an excellent solution for businesses and organizations that need a large, secure and dependable storage space while maintaining better protection against moisture, condensation and temperature fluctuations.
With a length of approximately 12 metres and an internal storage capacity of around 61 m³, this container provides substantial space for equipment, machinery, tools, materials, inventory and other valuable goods. It combines the proven strength of an ISO-standard marine container with a purpose-built insulation system, creating a practical storage environment suitable for year-round use.
Unlike a standard uninsulated container, this model is designed specifically to help control the internal environment. The walls, ceiling and doors are insulated with 40ā60 mm PIR insulation, while the floor is insulated from underneath using 50 mm XPS. The PIR insulation helps prevent condensation from forming inside the container, helping keep stored goods dry even when external weather conditions change significantly.
The interior is finished with white steel sheets, creating a bright, clean and moisture-resistant environment. The smooth interior surface is also easier to maintain and clean, making the container suitable for applications where cleanliness and organization are important.
The container is designed for use even in demanding climates, including cold winter conditions. For customers requiring additional temperature control, a heater can be installed with a thermostat, allowing a more stable internal temperature to be maintained.
The standard configuration includes double doors at the end of the container, secured using a padlock, together with two ventilation valves to provide basic ventilation.
For businesses requiring a more complete working environment, the container can be equipped with electricity and lighting, shelving, heating, improved ventilation and other accessories. It can also be configured with container legs, making it possible to install the unit in different locations and applications.
The 40′ Insulated Container is available in both New and Used configurations. A new container uses a marine container that has typically been used only once and receives new insulation, while the used option provides a more economical solution while still receiving new insulation.
For customers requiring additional protection, the container can also be supplied with EI60 insulation using 100 mm mineral wool, subject to configuration.

Insulation System
PIR Wall, Ceiling & Door Insulation
The container uses 40ā60 mm PIR insulation in the walls, ceiling and doors. PIR is selected because it provides strong insulation performance while requiring less thickness than some conventional insulation materials.
The manufacturer states that PIR insulation helps prevent condensation and provides up to 50% better insulation results than wool based on a smaller amount of insulation, allowing more of the container’s internal dimensions to remain usable for storage.
PIR insulation also does not readily develop mould or lose its insulating capacity in the way some traditional insulation materials can.
XPS Floor Insulation
The floor is insulated from underneath using 50 mm XPS insulation.
The floor retains the container’s standard load capacity, making it suitable for heavy storage applications and allowing pallet-jack loading without an additional threshold interfering with movement.
Optional EI60 Insulation
For applications requiring enhanced fire resistance, the container can be configured with EI60 insulation using 100 mm mineral wool (MW) instead of the standard PIR configuration.
Interior Design
The interior walls are finished with white steel sheets, creating a bright and professional storage environment.
This interior finish offers several practical advantages:
- Bright interior for easier visibility
- Easy-to-clean surface
- Moisture-resistant finish
- Professional appearance
- Suitable for organized storage
- Helps create a more controlled storage environment
Decorative mouldings are also used to provide a clean finishing touch to the insulated interior.
Doors & Ventilation
The standard container is equipped with double doors at the end, providing a large access opening for loading and unloading stored materials and equipment.
The doors are secured using a padlock, with a protective case supplied as part of the standard equipment in the new-container configuration.
The container also includes two ventilation valves to provide ventilation inside the insulated storage space.
For applications requiring increased airflow, improved ventilation systems can be added as an optional installation.
New & Used Options
New 40′ Insulated Container
The new option uses a marine container that has been used once, providing a clean and well-maintained base for the insulated conversion.
The new configuration includes:
- Very clean condition
- Properly functioning doors
- Protective case
- New insulation
- Long service life
- Minimal maintenance requirements
Used 40′ Insulated Container
The used option provides a more economical alternative.
The manufacturer describes these units as:
- Watertight
- Approximately 7ā15 years old
- Showing external signs of use
- Equipped with new insulation
- Potentially requiring maintenance such as rust treatment
- Doors may occasionally require maintenance or adjustment
This option is particularly attractive when the priority is obtaining a large insulated storage area while keeping the initial investment lower.
Available Options & Accessories
The 40′ Insulated Container can be configured with a variety of accessories depending on the intended application.
Electricity & Lighting
Electrical installation and lighting can transform the container into a more practical working and storage environment, particularly for workshops, maintenance areas and frequently accessed storage.
Heating
A heater can be installed for winter use. The manufacturer recommends a radiator equipped with a thermostat, allowing the temperature to be maintained at a steady level.
Shelving
Shelving systems can be added to organize tools, equipment, inventory and smaller materials while making better use of the available 61 m³ interior volume.
High Cube Configuration
A 40′ High Cube (HC) version is available for customers who need additional internal height.
Steel or Aluminium Floor
Alternative flooring configurations can be specified where the application requires a particular floor material.
Container Legs
Confoot container legs and other footing solutions are available for customers who need to raise or position the container in a specific installation environment.
Improved Ventilation
Additional ventilation solutions can be installed for applications requiring greater air circulation.
SOC Configuration for International Freight
The standard insulated container is designed primarily for storage and standard road transport.
For customers who require an insulated container for international freight transportation, an SOC (Shipper Owned Container) configuration is available.
SOC insulated containers:
- Are suitable for international transport
- Have a valid CSC plate and stamp
- Meet ISO requirements
- Can be transported internationally like standard containers
However, there is an important distinction: the floor of the SOC insulated container is not insulated, and ventilation is provided through the container’s original ventilation valves.
Customers requiring SOC equipment should specify this requirement when placing the order.
Ideal Applications
The 40′ Insulated Container is suitable for a wide range of commercial, industrial and storage applications, including:
- General warehouse storage
- Equipment storage
- Tool storage
- Industrial inventory
- Construction materials
- Workshop storage
- Spare parts
- Machinery and equipment
- Agricultural supplies
- Commercial stock
- Moisture-sensitive materials
- Year-round outdoor storage
- Temporary warehouse expansion
- Mobile workshops
- Temperature-controlled storage environments
- Cold-climate storage
